Ban Mak Khaeng School and Thailand in particular uses the Basic Education Core Curriculum or B.E. 2551 (A.D. 2008). This curriculum emphasizes a holistic approach to education, focusing on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and ethical values while integrating technology and real-world applications into the learning process.

Teaching Plan related to my major

In my case, I taught English subject and it falls under the Foreign Languages in Thai curriculum. Before my journey started, I mentally take note that English is not the second language of my Thai students, nor their third language so it is a good challenge for me to teach them. So before I went to Thailand, I researched about few teaching techniques that I can apply once I teach English in Thailand.

What I did is I prepare motivational activities and energizer since I know that learning English can be a little bit boring when taught by a foreign teacher, I also incorporate my culture to the following activities to maximize the cultural exchange SEA-TEP also offers, some activities that I used is a filipino interactive game called hep hep hooray and pasahan bola or catch the ball and whoever catches it will give me one english word and they will explain it so they can improve their vocabulary skills. I also learned few Thai phrases that can motivate my students to learn such as งานดี (good job) and ทำดีมาก (job well done!).

In addition to that, a part of Filipino culture is giving treats or tokens to our students, that's why I prepare some tokens that can motivate my students to learn, and this gives the student extra energy during the class!

Also, I am not familiar with how they do their Lesson Plan as I know that there could be differences between Filipino Lesson Plan and Thai Lesson Plan, that's why I asked my Thai friends about it so I can learn it during the first week, so that I will not have hard time adjusting to different layout of the lesson plan, Luckily , my kind cooperating teacher let me used both Thai and Filipino Lesson Plan.

Lastly, I used a student-centered approach so that my students will have freedom to explore the subject. I also made sure that the environment that I created in the classroom is low-anxiety, since I do not want a classroom that makes my students anxious and scared to participate on our activities.

Others

It is given that sudden adjustment is hard, especially if you transitioned from the things that you used to do to a different and whole new set of teaching approach, but one thing I learned is that you will enjoy the process if you love what you do, and for me? I did not experience any struggles and hardships because I love the self-discovery, the growth and the learnings that I had in this journey!
